Samsara has announced a new collaboration with Mobilisights, the Data as a Service (DaaS) division of Stellantis, to provide European businesses with seamless access to vehicle telematics data. This integration eliminates the need for additional hardware, enabling fleet operators to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability in their operations.
Through this partnership, Samsara’s connected operations platform will integrate directly with Stellantis’ built-in telematics hardware. The collaboration will cover a broad range of Stellantis brands, including Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS Automobiles, FIAT, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot, and Vauxhall. The integration will apply to most vehicles manufactured after 2024, with select models from 2018 to 2024 also being compatible. This broad coverage ensures that businesses with a mix of new and slightly older vehicles can still benefit from real-time data insights without the hassle of aftermarket installations.
Fleet managers will be able to connect Stellantis vehicles to Samsara’s platform with just a vehicle identification number (VIN), simplifying the onboarding process. The direct integration allows instant access to crucial vehicle data such as GPS location, mileage, fuel levels, and battery status for electric vehicles. This streamlined approach not only makes fleet management more efficient but also reduces downtime associated with hardware installations.
By removing the reliance on aftermarket telematics devices, this partnership guarantees a tamper-proof, factory-installed solution for fleet operators. Paul George, director of OEM at Samsara, emphasized the benefits of this approach, stating, “This integration makes vehicle onboarding effortless while ensuring reliable, real-time access to essential telematics data. By working with Mobilisights, we are equipping European businesses with the insights they need to operate more efficiently and sustainably.”
Stellantis, the second-largest automotive manufacturer in Europe, holds approximately 17% of the region’s market share. The company’s Mobilisights division is dedicated to leveraging data-driven insights to improve vehicle connectivity and operational efficiencies. Sebastien Fraysse, VP and head of sales EMEA at Mobilisights, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “By harmonizing Samsara’s expertise in connected operations with Mobilisights’ advanced data capabilities, we are empowering fleet-based businesses across Europe with seamless access to critical vehicle insights. Our shared goal is to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that drive better business outcomes.”
The benefits of this integration extend beyond convenience. By leveraging real-time data from Stellantis vehicles, fleet operators can optimize route planning, improve fuel efficiency, and ensure better vehicle maintenance. The data-driven approach helps businesses identify inefficiencies and make proactive decisions to reduce operational costs. Additionally, the integration enhances safety by providing insights into driver behavior, vehicle diagnostics, and potential maintenance issues before they become costly problems.
As businesses across Europe continue to adopt digital solutions for fleet management, partnerships like this one between Samsara and Stellantis represent a significant step forward. By eliminating hardware dependencies and simplifying telematics access, this collaboration ensures that companies can stay ahead in an increasingly data-driven and competitive landscape. Ultimately, Samsara and Mobilisights are setting a new standard for connected vehicle solutions, making fleet operations smarter, safer, and more sustainable than ever before.
