5G-Connected Autonomous Vehicle

The future of urban logistics is here with the launch of Scoobic MED, the first fully electric, 5G-connected autonomous vehicle designed specifically for last-mile delivery. Developed through a strategic alliance between GMV and Passion Motorbike Factory–Scoobic, this cutting-edge solution aims to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing modern cities — sustainable and efficient delivery of goods.

Scoobic MED is more than just another electric vehicle. It combines zero-emission technology, artificial intelligence, and advanced connectivity to create an automated transport solution that can operate safely and efficiently without human intervention. The vehicle integrates 5G connectivity, perception sensors, autonomous navigation systems, and GMV’s proprietary uPathWay platform. Together, these technologies allow Scoobic MED to detect obstacles, make real-time decisions, and continuously optimize routes — all while minimizing environmental impact.

Making Last-Mile Delivery Smarter

Last-mile delivery is one of the costliest and most complex stages in the logistics chain, often resulting in traffic congestion, noise, and higher carbon emissions. Scoobic MED directly addresses these problems by offering a cleaner, quieter, and fully automated alternative to conventional vans or scooters. Its driverless operation means fewer vehicles on the road, reduced labor costs, and improved delivery efficiency.

To make the technology accessible, the project introduces an innovative pay-per-use model, eliminating the need for significant upfront investment. This opens the door for small and medium-sized businesses to adopt autonomous mobility solutions that were previously out of reach, enabling them to compete more effectively with larger players in the logistics space.

A Collaborative Success

Miguel Hormigo, GMV’s industry sector manager, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, saying, “We’re proud to see these vehicles in operation under real-world conditions, making their own decisions and proving that what once seemed futuristic has now become a reality. Working alongside Scoobic has been a great experience, and this success demonstrates the immense potential of technological collaboration in urban mobility.”

Scoobic CEO José María Gómez echoed this sentiment, adding, “Scoobic MED represents a leap forward in urban logistics. We’ve gone beyond building an autonomous vehicle — we’ve created a new way of thinking about last-mile delivery. Our solution is not only cleaner and more efficient but also designed to make logistics more human-centered.”

Beyond Urban Deliveries

Although the current focus is on last-mile logistics, Scoobic MED’s design is highly versatile. Its modular platform allows it to be adapted for a range of other applications, such as transporting medical supplies, delivering pharmaceuticals, or distributing materials in industrial environments. This adaptability makes it a valuable tool for cities and organizations seeking flexible, sustainable mobility solutions.

With the Scoobic MED project, GMV and Scoobic are showing how innovation, sustainability, and connectivity can come together to redefine logistics. Their collaboration marks a significant step toward smarter, greener cities where autonomous vehicles are no longer an experiment — but a practical, scalable reality.
