May Mobility, a pioneer in autonomous vehicle (AV) innovation, has announced the release of its Ride-Hail Integration API—an important milestone aimed at expanding its Autonomy-as-a-Service (AaaS) offerings. This new technology is built to streamline integration between AVs and ride-hailing platforms, strengthening the company’s position in urban transportation markets worldwide.
Bridging Autonomous Vehicles with Global Ride-Hail Networks
The Ride-Hail Integration API enables real-time communication between May Mobility’s autonomous fleets and popular ride-hailing apps, allowing for seamless trip coordination. With smart handling of pick-up and drop-off locations, the API ensures improved passenger safety and convenience. This connectivity is key to enabling widespread AV deployments, supporting interoperability across different platforms and providers.
A major feature of the API is its adaptability to regional driving conditions. With support for both left-hand and right-hand traffic systems, May Mobility is prepared to scale operations internationally beyond its current footprint in the U.S. and Japan.
Smarter Decision-Making with MPDM Technology
Central to May Mobility’s AV platform is its proprietary Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) system. Unlike traditional AV technologies that rely on rigid, pre-programmed responses, MPDM allows vehicles to make flexible, real-time decisions based on live data. It processes information from multiple sensor types—including LIDAR, RADAR, and cameras—refreshing insights every 200 milliseconds for enhanced safety and responsiveness.
Recent improvements to MPDM focus specifically on the demands of complex urban environments. Key upgrades include:
-
Accurate navigation through tight and narrow city streets
-
Realistic responses to everyday urban challenges like double-parked cars
-
Enhanced comfort through smoother starts, stops, and turns
These advancements reflect May Mobility’s commitment to building AVs that operate smoothly and safely in the real world—not just in ideal conditions.
Strategic Growth with Lyft and Uber
May Mobility is now preparing for major partnerships that will bring its AV services to more riders. The company is set to launch operations with Lyft in Midtown Atlanta this summer, followed by an expansion with Uber in Arlington, Texas later in the year. These deployments will start with human operators present but are designed to transition into fully autonomous services over time.
With nearly 500,000 rides already delivered across 19 cities globally, May Mobility is one of only a few U.S. companies currently offering driverless commercial rides on public roads. Its collaborations with major players like Toyota and NTT reflect the strength and scalability of its platform.
Jacob Crossman, Senior VP of Autonomy Engineering, highlighted the rider benefits of the new API: “We’re optimizing everything from pick-up timing to passenger comfort. It’s a significant step toward making autonomy widely accessible.”
