Qualcomm and Wayve ADAS AI driving platform

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Wayve have announced a collaboration to develop a production-ready advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) solution for automakers around the world. The partnership combines Wayve’s AI-powered driving software with Qualcomm’s established automotive computing platform to deliver a pre-integrated system designed to accelerate the deployment of advanced driving technologies.

At the center of the collaboration is the integration of the Wayve AI Driver with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride platform. Wayve’s technology acts as an end-to-end artificial intelligence driving layer, while Snapdragon Ride provides the high-performance system-on-chips and active safety software required to run the system efficiently in vehicles. Together, the two technologies create a unified platform capable of supporting hands-off ADAS functions today while laying the groundwork for more advanced automated driving capabilities in the future.

The goal of the joint solution is to simplify the process for automakers that want to introduce sophisticated driving assistance features in their vehicles. By offering a pre-integrated architecture that already combines compute hardware, safety software and AI driving intelligence, the companies aim to reduce the complexity and time normally required to develop such systems. This approach allows automakers to focus more on customizing features for their vehicles while speeding up development cycles and lowering integration effort.

The platform is designed as a scalable foundation for advanced driver assistance and automated driving systems. Automakers can deploy powerful ADAS features quickly while maintaining the flexibility to expand capabilities over time. He emphasized that Snapdragon Ride was designed to support a wide range of long-term platform strategies, allowing automakers to standardize technology across different vehicle programs and regions while still maintaining flexibility in development.

Wayve co-founder and CEO Alex Kendall highlighted the adaptability of the Wayve AI Driver. The software is built to function as a vehicle-agnostic intelligence layer, meaning it can operate across different types of vehicles and driving environments. By working with Qualcomm Technologies, the company aims to provide automakers already using Snapdragon Ride with a more streamlined path to integrate AI-driven automated driving capabilities.

Wayve’s AI Driver relies on a data-driven approach that learns driving behavior directly from large volumes of real-world data. This allows the system to adapt to various road conditions, traffic patterns and regional driving styles. Meanwhile, Snapdragon Ride’s active safety architecture provides the computing power and reliability needed for in-vehicle AI processing, including built-in redundancy, real-time monitoring and secure system isolation.

Built on an open and scalable architecture, Snapdragon Ride can support both premium and mainstream vehicle platforms. This flexibility enables automakers to maintain consistent performance and AI acceleration across multiple vehicle models and generations while ensuring the portability and reuse of software across different platforms. Together, the technologies from Qualcomm Technologies and Wayve aim to help accelerate the global adoption of safer and more capable automated driving systems.
