Stellantis Teams Up with Nvidia

Stellantis has announced a landmark partnership with Nvidia, Uber Technologies, and Foxconn to jointly develop and deploy Level 4 autonomous vehicles designed for robotaxi services across global markets. This strategic alliance builds on Stellantis’s growing momentum in autonomous mobility, following its recent agreement with Pony.ai to pilot self-driving vehicles in Europe.

Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, emphasized the company’s vision for the next era of transportation, stating, “Autonomous mobility opens the door to new, more affordable transportation choices for customers. We have built AV-ready platforms to meet growing demand, and by partnering with leaders in AI, electronics and mobility services, we aim to create a scalable solution that delivers smarter, safer and more efficient mobility for everyone.”

A Powerful Alliance for the Future of Autonomy

Through this collaboration, each company brings its unique strengths to the table. Stellantis contributes its deep expertise in global vehicle engineering and manufacturing, while Nvidia provides its cutting-edge autonomous driving software and AI computing technology. Foxconn adds its advanced electronics and system integration capabilities, and Uber offers its operational experience and global ride-hailing platform.

Together, the partners aim to accelerate the creation of a new generation of Level 4 autonomous vehicles capable of operating without human intervention under specific conditions. The project underscores the shared goal of making autonomous transportation a scalable, safe, and commercially viable reality.

Building on Stellantis’s AV-Ready Platforms

The joint effort will build upon Stellantis’s AV-Ready Platforms, particularly the K0 medium-sized van and the STLA Small platform. Both will be powered by Nvidia’s Drive AGX Hyperion 10 architecture, a comprehensive system that integrates the safety-certified Nvidia DriveOS operating system and the full-stack Nvidia Drive AV software. These technologies are specifically engineered to support Level 4 autonomous capabilities, enabling vehicles to perceive their surroundings, plan routes, and drive independently.

Global Deployment Plans

Uber is set to play a pivotal role in the commercial rollout of these autonomous vehicles. The ride-hailing giant plans to introduce 5,000 Stellantis-built robotaxis in select cities around the world, beginning in the United States. Pilot programs and large-scale testing are expected to expand in the coming years, with full production slated to begin in 2028.

Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Nvidia is the backbone of the AI era and is now fully harnessing that innovation to unleash L4 autonomy at enormous scale, with Stellantis among the first to integrate Nvidia’s technology for deployment on Uber. We are thrilled to work with Stellantis to bring thousands of their autonomous vehicles to riders around the world.”

Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, described the initiative as a transformative step for the automotive industry. “Level 4 autonomy isn’t just a milestone – it’s a leap in AI capability. The vehicle becomes a robot – one that sees, perceives, plans and drives with superhuman precision,” Huang said. “By combining Stellantis’s global scale with Nvidia Drive and Foxconn’s system integration, we’re creating a new class of purpose-built robotaxi fleets that will make transportation safer, more accessible, and more affordable.”

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu also highlighted the company’s commitment to autonomous mobility as a cornerstone of its EV strategy. “Our collaboration with Nvidia, Stellantis, and Uber accelerates the development and deployment of Level 4 robotaxi technology,” Liu said. “Foxconn will focus on delivering high-performance computing and advanced sensor integration to enable a global rollout.”

With this ambitious alliance, Stellantis and its partners are setting the stage for a new chapter in autonomous transportation—one that promises to redefine mobility, efficiency, and accessibility for millions of people worldwide.
