Driver

Volkswagen Group is set to redefine advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) by partnering with Valeo and Mobileye to introduce Level 2+ automation in its future vehicles built on the MQB platform. This collaboration is designed to enhance driving safety, comfort, and efficiency, addressing both market demand and regulatory advancements.

Smarter, Safer, and More Efficient Driving

The new ADAS system will bring a host of intelligent features that enable hands-free driving in approved conditions. Among the key capabilities are:

Traffic Jam Assist – Reduces driver fatigue by automating acceleration and braking in slow-moving traffic.
Hazard Detection – Uses a network of sensors to identify potential dangers and alert the driver.
Automated Parking – Simplifies parking with smart assistance technology.
Driver Monitoring – Ensures driver attentiveness to enhance safety.
360° Emergency Assist – Provides full-coverage awareness to prevent collisions.
Augmented Reality (AR) Displays – Enhances navigation and alerts through interactive visual overlays.

This system is designed to evolve with time, thanks to over-the-air software updates that continuously improve performance and safety features.

Tech Powerhouses Unite for Next-Gen Automation

Volkswagen’s partnership with Valeo and Mobileye integrates cutting-edge AI, sensors, and computing power into a streamlined solution.

🔹 Valeo will supply high-performance ECUs (electronic control units), sensors, and parking solutions for seamless automation.
🔹 Mobileye will provide its Surround ADAS platform, powered by the EyeQ6 High processor, alongside its real-time mapping technology for precision driving assistance.
🔹 Volkswagen will integrate these technologies into its vehicle ecosystem, ensuring a high-quality, cost-efficient solution for mass-market adoption.

By replacing multiple electronic control units (ECUs) with a centralized computing system, the new setup reduces complexity, improves efficiency, and enhances processing speed, setting a new benchmark for intelligent mobility.

Industry Leaders on the Collaboration

Volkswagen’s Dirk Große-Loheide, Board Member for Procurement, emphasized the strategic benefits of this partnership:
“By sourcing hardware and software together, we simplify procurement, reduce system complexity, and enhance efficiency, ensuring high-quality solutions at competitive costs.”

Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo Brain Division, shared his excitement:
“At Valeo, we are committed to driving innovation in assisted driving technology. This collaboration with Volkswagen and Mobileye brings cutting-edge, affordable automation to everyday drivers.”

Prof. Amnon Shashua, President and CEO of Mobileye, highlighted the AI-driven advancements:
“This system blends software and hardware into a seamless driving experience. By making AI-based automation more accessible, we are shaping the future of vehicle safety and driver assistance.”

Volkswagen’s Roadmap for Smarter Mobility

With streamlined procurement, centralized processing, and AI-driven automation, Volkswagen is taking a bold step toward the future of intelligent driving. This partnership aligns with its broader vision of delivering safer, smarter, and more intuitive mobility solutions for drivers worldwide.
