XNGP AI Smart Driving in China

XPENG is set to launch its XNGP smart driving solution across China, expanding its reach to every city nationwide without relying on high-definition (HD) maps. At the recent Smart AI Technology Conference, XPENG’s Chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, announced the significant upgrade of the unlimited XNGP, introducing three key standards for nationwide usability: unlimited cities, unlimited routes, and unlimited road conditions.

The XNGP system is designed to enable ‘driving while observing’, allowing it to navigate complex scenarios such as roundabouts and U-turns in real-time. This capability distinguishes XNGP from other systems in the industry, which often struggle with these types of driving situations.

XPENG’s XNGP has undergone extensive field testing in over 2,595 cities across China, including both prefecture-level and county-level cities. The system has accumulated over 7.56 million kilometers of test mileage, demonstrating its robustness and reliability. Additionally, the AI training for XNGP has been generalized to cover all cities nationwide, ensuring that the system can handle a wide range of driving conditions and environments.

In the latest public beta version of XNGP, the AI Valet Driver feature has been enhanced to automatically navigate through toll stations, showcasing the system’s advanced capabilities. This feature is part of XPENG’s ongoing efforts to improve and expand the functionality of its smart driving solutions.

XPENG also announced the global rollout of its new in-car operating system, Tianji XOS 5.2, to all eligible XPENG models. This comprehensive update includes 484 feature upgrades, covering smart driving, ecosystem connectivity, and smart cockpit functionalities. The Tianji XOS 5.2 is designed to enhance the overall user experience, making it easier and more intuitive for drivers to interact with their vehicles.

He Xiaopeng emphasized the significant role of AI in shaping new trends and technological advancements post-2023. He highlighted four key areas where AI is making a substantial impact: chips, large models, autonomous driving, and robotics. XPENG is positioning itself as a leader in this new wave of AI-driven innovation, leveraging its expertise and cutting-edge technology to stay ahead of the competition.

Overall, XPENG’s nationwide rollout of the XNGP smart driving solution marks a significant milestone for the company and the automotive industry. By breaking free from the constraints of HD maps and achieving nationwide usability, XPENG is setting a new standard for smart driving technology. The comprehensive upgrades to XNGP and the global rollout of Tianji XOS 5.2 underscore XPENG’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of smart driving.
