Charge Amps AB, the innovative Swedish company specializing in smart charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), has entered into a game-changing acquisition deal with China’s NaaS Technology. This strategic move promises to not only bolster Charge Amps’ ongoing expansion but also significantly elevate its capacity to provide top-tier products and services to its ever-growing customer base.

Under the terms of the acquisition, Charge Amps will retain its name and brand identity, ensuring continuity and recognition in the market. NaaS Technology, a subsidiary of Newlinks Technology Limited, a prominent player in the energy digitalization sector, will acquire all issued and outstanding shares of Charge Amps for approximately SEK 724 million (equivalent to approximately US$66.4 million).

NaaS Technology has established itself as a key player in the EV charging infrastructure space. The company caters to both charging station operators and EV owners, offering a range of online and offline charging solutions along with valuable non-charging services. This acquisition is poised to open up new horizons for both companies as they join forces to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of electric mobility.

Olle Tholander, the Chief Executive Officer at Charge Amps, enthusiastically welcomed the acquisition, expressing, “There is a notable surge in interest among international investors in our industry at present, with a particularly keen focus on Charge Amps. We have been overt about our efforts in recent years to determine the best solution for the company’s long-term strategy and growth plan.” Tholander also emphasized the belief that NaaS Technology possesses the necessary expertise and financial strength to support Charge Amps’ growth journey. He highlighted the opportunity to expand the product range, which will not only make Charge Amps more competitive but also accelerate the transition to an electrified lifestyle while fostering a smarter ecosystem.

Alex Wu, a Co-founder, President, and Chief Financial Officer of NaaS Technology, echoed this sense of optimism, affirming, “We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to the Charge Amps brand and its dedicated team, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing international expansion.” Wu underscored the immense potential for electric vehicle adoption in the European market and the surging demand for charging services. He expressed confidence in collaborating with the Charge Amps team to reinforce its leading position in the EV charging sector. We also hinted at an integration plan that will see the launch of new products through the Charge Amps distribution channels, further enhancing the value proposition for customers and shareholders alike.

Charge Amps, a company founded in 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden, has been on an impressive trajectory of international expansion. With a dedicated team of 120 employees spread across seven countries, the company has made its mark in 15 different markets. This acquisition by NaaS Technology is set to propel Charge Amps into the next phase of its growth journey, solidifying its position as a key player in the global EV charging ecosystem.
