Hyundai Premieres the 2025 IONIQ 5 N

Hyundai has recently unveiled its groundbreaking 2025 IONIQ 5 N electrified sports vehicle during the AutoMobility LA event, marking a significant milestone as the first electrified iteration under the Hyundai N brand. The unveiling at AutoMobility LA showcased the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle (EV) technology, with plans for additional electrified N models in the near future.

At the heart of the IONIQ 5 N’s high-performance capabilities lies the Hyundai Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), providing a solid foundation for this innovative EV. Scheduled to hit Hyundai dealerships in March 2024, the IONIQ 5 N is poised to redefine the driving experience for enthusiasts and environmentally conscious consumers alike.

Powering the IONIQ 5 N are electric motors capable of reaching an impressive 21,000 RPM, delivering an estimated 641 horsepower (478 kW). This robust performance underscores Hyundai’s commitment to combining sustainability with exhilarating driving dynamics. The integration of advanced features, such as the N Pedal, addresses the unique challenges posed by the weight and size of electric powertrains while maintaining the responsive handling characteristic of Hyundai’s renowned i20 N WRC cars.

A standout feature of the IONIQ 5 N is the intelligent software function known as N Pedal. This technology is engineered to provide instantaneous turn-in behavior and heightened throttle sensitivity, further enhancing the overall driving experience. The development of the N Pedal demonstrates Hyundai’s dedication to overcoming the inherent challenges of electric powertrains and delivering a dynamic driving experience that rivals traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.

José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, expressed confidence in the IONIQ 5 N’s ability to impress both existing Hyundai customers and new buyers. Emphasizing the role of Hyundai N as a driving force behind technological advancements, Muñoz highlighted the vehicle’s bold leap forward in electrified performance.

Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand and Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company underscored the company’s commitment to delivering a signature fun driving experience across different powertrains. Starting with the IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai N aims to electrify the driving passion of its most demanding enthusiasts, taking driving enjoyment to new heights by leveraging the latest available technologies.
