AI-Powered Mobility

Stellantis N.V. has recently solidified its commitment to advancing automotive technology with the acquisition of CloudMade, a leading developer in big data-driven automotive solutions. This strategic move involves obtaining CloudMade’s artificial intelligence (AI) framework, machine learning models, and associated intellectual property rights and patents. The primary goal behind this acquisition is to bolster the development of Stellantis’ STLA SmartCockpit, an innovative project that aims to revolutionize the in-car and mobility user experience.

At the heart of CloudMade’s contribution is its AI-powered framework, a sophisticated cloud and software development kit designed for collecting and analyzing automotive data sets. Over the past decade, CloudMade’s technology has served as a crucial reference point in transforming the landscape of in-car and mobility experiences. This acquisition is anticipated to play a pivotal role in Stellantis’ broader strategy to develop intelligent mobility products and elevate the overall customer experience through personalized features.

The software technology acquired from CloudMade aligns seamlessly with Stellantis’ vision for the future. Yves Bonnefont, Stellantis Chief Software Officer, highlights the significance of this acquisition in advancing their goals: “The acquisition of CloudMade’s pioneering AI capabilities will accelerate our development journey on STLA SmartCockpit and help us deliver our Dare Forward 2030 goals.” This move positions Stellantis to leverage CloudMade’s adaptable technology, coupled with its expanding connected car parc, to create intelligent mobility solutions with greater speed and flexibility, ultimately enhancing in-vehicle and mobile experience personalization for their customers.

As part of the acquisition agreement, 44 engineers and software developers from CloudMade, specifically dedicated to AI technology development, will be integrated into the Stellantis team. This infusion of talent is expected to further strengthen Stellantis’ capabilities in the realm of artificial intelligence and contribute to the ongoing innovation within the automotive sector.

Jim Brown, founder and CTO of CloudMade expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “CloudMade is extremely pleased with this transaction. The team is excited to deepen their working relationship with Stellantis to bring new features to the vehicle’s cockpit.” This sentiment reflects the shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in automotive technology.

Stellantis is actively executing its Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, a comprehensive roadmap that aims to position the company as a carbon net-zero mobility tech company by 2038. The acquisition of CloudMade aligns seamlessly with this ambitious plan, providing Stellantis with the technological prowess needed to stay at the forefront of innovation in the rapidly evolving automotive industry.
