Volvo Cars has recently introduced its latest addition to the electric vehicle (EV) lineup, the Volvo EM90, a fully electric premium Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). The Swedish automaker has strategically chosen China, the world’s largest car market, as the initial launch destination for the EM90.
At the heart of the EM90 is a robust 116 kWh battery that propels the vehicle to an impressive range of up to 738 kilometers under the China Light-Duty Test Cycle (CLTC). This extensive range positions the EM90 as a viable option for drivers seeking a dependable electric vehicle with an extended driving range.
Charging the EM90 is expected to be a swift process, with the capability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. This efficiency is crucial in addressing one of the common concerns associated with electric vehicles – charging time. The emphasis on fast charging aligns with Volvo’s commitment to making electric mobility practical and convenient for everyday use.
Under the hood, the EM90 is powered by an electric motor with an impressive 200 kW power output. This translates to a brisk acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds, showcasing the vehicle’s commitment to delivering a dynamic and engaging driving experience. The acceleration performance positions the EM90 as a noteworthy contender in the premium electric MPV segment.
An intriguing feature shared with the EM90 and its SUV counterpart, the EX90, is the capability for bi-directional charging.
